This handsome young man is Dice. He’s a little over a year old. Dice was hit by a car recently and suffered neurologic trauma to his spine. There were no apparent fractures, but as a result of the trauma, Dice no longer has full control of his rear legs, bladder or bowel. (Although he does move himself away from any excrement that he passes) Initially, Dice was fully paralyzed in the rear, but every day he gets stronger and is now able to stand, hold himself up and even walk a bit, even if it’s quite uncoordinated. He gets better every day and is able to walk a bit more every day all by himself. Dice needs that special home that is willing and able to provide the special care that he requires. Dice is a great boy with a zest for life.
UPDATE: 6/13/15 – Dice gets stronger and stronger every day. These days, he walks mostly on his own. A little bit awkward yet, but still all by himself. He’s gained much more control of his bladder and bowel too. As long as we provide routine, scheduled potty breaks for him, he holds it and controls it! Check out his NEW updated video from this week! https://youtu.be/keWIDW2FSGQ
Prince is a super handsome, extra-large 2-year-old Mastiff….who really needs to get out of the shelter QUICKLY. Poor Prince was surrendered by his family through NO FAULT of his own a couple weeks ago and he is not doing well. Prince is super smart—knows sit, stay and down. Prince is also wonderful with children, growing up with 3 small children. He is truly a gentle giant. Unfortunately, Prince, like most Mastiffs, is not doing well in the stressful shelter environment. Mastiffs are very sensitive to their surroundings and get incredibly stressed at shelters. Prince is getting more depressed and scared every day in his kennel. Once the staff and volunteers get him out he is the sweetest dog you can imagine. Please stop by the shelter or call them today to get more information about Prince. He would LOVE to meet you!

This sweet girl was found wandering around in Puerto Rico. Poor Nena was “discovered” by a kind woman with a big heart visiting from New York. There was just something about Nena (which means girl in Spanish). Her back leg is hurt (possibly from being hit by a car), and she is currently staying in a private residence… but only for a little while. If you have room in your heart and home, arrangements can be made to have Nena put on a flight to you. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details about Nena.

Hi, My name is Gustavo. I’m a 3 year old Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff). I don’t know why, but my owner abandoned me, and thankfully, SICAW is helping to find me a new home. I’m a very sweet, gentle dog who loves pupperoni and giving kisses. I walk well on a leash and would love to take long walks with you.
I have been at the kennel for a year. I’m a very sweet, gentle dog who loves pupperoni and giving kisses. I walk well on a leash and would love to take long walks with you. I follow commands such as– sit, give me your paw…. and of course give me kisses. By the way–I get along with other big dogs. I haven’t been with cats so don’t know how I will behave with them.
The volunteers are wonderful and take me out as much as they can, but what I really need is a home of my own with a cozy bed and a place to run and someone to give me all their attention. Could that be you? If big, lovable pooches are your thing, come down to the kennel to meet me. See what a great boy I am – just a big mush waiting for my own special person to shower with kisses and to love me in return.
Gustavo is 3 years old, is up to date with vaccinations, micro-chipped and on heartworm preventive. Gustavo as well as others can be seen at Country Estate Kennels at 4838 Arthur Kill Road on Sunday mornings from 10am to 12pm. Please check our home page for directions. Roxy is a one-year-old Pit Bull Terrier whose owner was incarcerated. She was left alone in the apartment, and her foster mom rescued her.
Roxy is very friendly toward people. She seems to be a little anxious around other dogs.
Roxy has a lot of energy, and needs an active home. She knows some commands and will listen when called.
Roxy’s foster mom has become very fond of her, and would like to meet with the adopters to help ease the transition.

Chance is a handsome 8-10 year old purebred German Shepherd. Chance was rescued from a high kill shelter in South Carolina. He was extremely thin when he came to rescue but is all filled out now and so handsome! Chance is looking for a best friend to just hang out with in his golden years. He is still silly and playful but enjoys napping at your feet as well.
We feel that someone in his past was maybe not so kind to him:( He is friendly and sweet to all but a little shy around men and seems to gravitate more to woman. He is housebroken and crate trained(we leave his crate open and find him sleeping in there often:) Chance is interested in other dogs and would like to play but is lacking in social skills with his canine friends. We feel that he would do best in a home without other pets. Please give Chance the “second chance” he so deserves with a loving family.
Please contact Tammy at 908-433-1796 or email@example.com for more info on Chance.
